I was raised on a strict diet of Jim Henson movies. I also have a freakishly good memory so when I say it's been over 20 years since I watched the original Muppet Movie and can still sing every song and quote every line verbatim, I'm not joking. hahaha

That being said, I do feel like I can say this about this new series, I feel no drama or suspense. The way Jim Henson made movies and characters was that they could be enjoyed and appreciated by adults and kids, alike. I feel no adult atrraction here, the characters are more goofy and animated than the originals so they could appeal to a younger audience "more". That makes me sad, and I am sure I am the only one who noticed that.

The original was more intense than this new version, intensity may scare children, so we'll remove it entirely, no one will notice, NO ONE BUT MEEEEEEE.

Wow. This has so much soul. Every forum is full of capesh*t and star wars, but this I have to find by accident.

I didn't even know this existed until about an hour ago. Now I am 8 years old again! Can't praise it enough and I've only watched the first episode. Christmas has come early... All kinds of awesome and a supremely strong 9/10.

I took my time and watched this series and I am glad that I did. I enjoyed it thoroughly. The puppetry was amazing and, naturally, I loved the storyline.

I haven't watched this yet just the trailer but I was a little disappointed how animated it looked. I was hoping they were going to go more with the look of the original
Teeny?

@Teeny💋 Teeny its definitely worth watching. It is mainly done with the puppets. On Netflix they have the episode that also shows the making of the series. They show the CGI version V Puppets and the puppets look so much better so they decided to stick with the original and best way that it was done like before in the 80's. Theres so much detail to it. The story itself is not why I watched as I am obviously much older now lol (unfortunately) it was nostalgia and the amazing feast for the eyes that this series was.Well worth a watch hun. smiley

@laylaandpaz I'm there same way watching for nostalgia reasons. I like the gelflings look in the original better, they were a little softer looking but the rest look just like the original. This was a favorite of mine when I was a kid and also Labyrinth. ??

@Teeny💋 It's still mostly hand made puppets from the Jim Henson workshop. They just added some CGI tweaks. The level of detail in this show is f***ing amazing.

So much of the first episode was an exact replica of the 1982 film. Small tidbits that I had forgotten about instantly came flooding back the moment that I saw it again. I didn't care for the lion King Because of that and feeling like I basically watched an HD version of the original (which is kinda all it was), so I hoped that this wouldn't be a repeat of that type thing. Though it is a nearly exact replica in many ways and scenes, Obviously there is a lot more scenes added or else we'd only have an hour movie and not a season worth of episodes. The original is one of the best movies of all time and I'm so glad another generation will Know and enjoy this the same way I was able to. I love everything about this so far and am excited to see it all the way through. This show and fraggle rock are what made me love puppets. I'm glad that everything from the puppets to the set design hasn't really changed in nearly 20 Years. It all made the dark Crystal what it is. ...

@◦•●◉✿♡Momof3αηgєℓѕ♡✿◉●•◦ I'm only in first episode but I'm assuming to 2 younger gelflings are supposed to be the same from the original? If so I'm confused bc the boy one was raised by one of the other tribes (can't remember what they were called), the ones that rested their heads on special chairs and they kind of chanted. This one he's talking to his father?? I'm trying to figure that out. Does that make any sense to you or anyone else reading this? ??

@Teeny💋 That's what I was thinking as well. I still can't get over how everything looks pretty much identical to what I watched as a kid. It brings back so many long forgotten memories.

@quinngirl Yes, hence tis why I said Henson not Jim. As in The Legend of the Henson's. ok I shouldn't have said 'he'. I wasn't sure which sex was involved, bad habit in todays climate. It's still His story.

JIM HENSON...my personal Buddha!
There are very few people on this planet that brought as much joy and phantasy to literally billions of people. To call his creatures "Puppets" is like calling the ocean "lotsa water"
This new series grabs up the 1982 movie "the dark crystal". The planet "Thra"s center is a big crystal that is the source of all life. The species "Skekse" (Mean ugly birds)took over the crystal and feed on it to expand their life span.
The cute "Gelfings" and their seven clans will have to fight the threat.
Amazing creatures, animated in the very sense of "bring to life--> anime"
And as always with Jim Hanson: great fairy tale telling.
How would your childhood and life have been without Henson?
No Sesame Street, No Kermit, No Piggy, No muppet Show?
Ernie & Bert? Big Bird?
YODA in Star Wars was a Henson creature!!!
Farscape, Labyrinth with David Bowie , only to name a few....
It would have been:
