I wasn't as impressed as I expected to be with IT Chapter 2. I absolutely loved Chapter 1. Honestly even with the book and the original mini-series, I always liked the kids part of the story the best. The cast of kids they had for the first movie were spot on and this is something that did continue for this one too. The cast was great especially James McAvoy, he can act the hell out of some parts. I just love him as an actor. The creatures did not impress me for the most part, I even found some of them comical. I felt they could have shaved 30 mins or so off the movie too. It has been a while since I've read the book but I believe they changed quite a bit about it, especially the end. This makes me want to go back and read the book now.

Overall, it's a good movie but not great. I expected more and maybe that's why I was disappointed somewhat. Maybe I hyped it up too much in my mind. I still enjoyed it and recommend watching. You may find it all you wanted and more, and I hope you do! Happy watching!

It is one story/movie told/broken up into two chapters so comparing them is silly, considering chapter 2 is a continuation of the first. I saw this in the theater and it was &%$#@ing amazing. Absolutely worth watching. The first part did a fantastic job of telling a story, and bonding the main characters and was brilliantly done... chapter 2 highlighted the damage It had wreaked on the characters lives and the effect it had on their now grown up psyches. IT genuinely made me jump out of my seat (accompanied by a few expletives involving excrement) several times, and continued to entertain me with it's mixed tone of humor, horror, and pathos. Well worth the three hour watch (which in my not so humble opinion flew by) By the end of the film I wasn't like "Thank God that's over!Damn that was long!" I was like "Oh damn! It's over already? Let's see that again!"

Excellent movie. This is one example where the sequel is far better than the original. In my opinion! I loved all the crazy special effects, the nod to the shining, and the cameo from Stephen. Just a really great movie in every way possible. Loved it.

overly long to the point of tedious.
this is not a horror film. it's a 'stand by me' clone, a drama with some horror elements. you never feel that that characters are in peril. after the (admittedly) bruising opening it's downhill all the way, just going through the motions. the first part had a certain charm mainly owing to the child ensemble cast, all symapthetic and well acted. this has none of that. the director seems to have one scare tactic he employs over and over again, a monster or creature running at the screen impossibly fast.
how many times can you tell the same story? too many it seems, esp. when it comes to horror movies. you know what's going to happen or at least have a very accurate guess. the director seems more interested in how many cameos he can get into the nearly 3 hour running time. and as many references to other (better) horror movies ( the thing reference made me cringe it was so unnecessary).. a drab and shallow effort which all the SFX in the world cannot save.

I enjoyed this, it had some freaky and a few creepy scenes. I liked how it showed who they were as kids because I had forgotten and was almost gonna watch the 1st one to see who each one was older but it did that nicely. The only thing I didn't like was how it arrived, kinda silly to me(just my opinion).

@manditoe the book kindof explains it a little better.. that humans don't have the experience frame of reference to be able to conceptualize or understand how IT came into being or traveled through time and space to get here (my wording),, I think reading the book helped me to accept the director's concept.. but I thought the same thing,, it's kindof psychedelic instead of understandable..
